Lovin’ the show…you had me when you played “Cars” by Gary Numan…and to top it off, you interviewed a female metalhead who was trained in opera…Tuesdae rocks my sox! My musical history is similar to hers, too. Thought it was time to say hi from Australia…keep me posted as to when you are visiting Oz. Would love to catch your show live sometime.
And a big thank you for flying the flag for indie music…its my life’s work and somewhat of an obsession for me.
Keep on churnin’ out the good stuff…and I hope you enjoy visiting Oz in 2010.

Dave, would you consider playing with the Chili Peppers again if they asked you? There are some fans who would like to see that happen considering the fact the John has unofficially left the band. Josh is only a temporary replacement.
Sorry, my mistake. I guess John hasn’t left. It was just a stupid rumor that got out of hand.
Seems RHCP are in need of a guitarist. How careless of them. Doubt they’d be interested in an innovative soul who ploughs his own furrow these days – more likely want a soundalike so they can produce yet more turgid, soundalike MOR that will sell by the trillion.
BTW, don’t really do that “best” “worst” thing about art but, IMHO, OHM is RHCP’s most “interesting” and “innovative” work and it’s all been a bit hits-by-numbers since Californication…
Dave- now that John Frusciante’s departure from the Chili Peppers is OFFICIAL, would you consider playing/collaborating with them again if the opportunity presented itself. The prospect (as remote as it may be) has me (and I’m sure many others) very excited!
One Hot Minute is a special piece of RHCP history- a brooding, heavy, psychedelic, funky piece of art that is unlike anything else in the band’s back catalogue. Your playing brought a real edge that has been missed by this listener.
I know that at the time, you guys parted ways due to your ‘lack of musical compatibility’ or some such nonsense. I think the One Hot MInute record speaks otherwise! Besides, it’s now 15 years later; times change, people change…
I know the guys have been rehearsing with Josh Klinghoffer and it’s looking like he’s ‘the replacement’. While this whole post may already be a futile endeavor, I fervently hope there may be something in the cards for a RCHP + Navarro reunion!! Cheers!

Well it’s everywhere that you have rejoined the chili peppers. Could you shed some light on the subject?
John is a great guitarist and a really nice guy. He left some really big shoes to fill. I feel sorry for whoever replaces him, be it Josh or anyone else. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that about 90% of RHCP fans are loyal to John. It doesn’t matter how talented the new guy is, most of the fans will hate him because he’s not John. No one will ever be like John except John. You can almost guarantee that if the band goes on tour next year that at least a dozen unruly fans are gonna give the new guy a hard time like the GnR fans did to Robin Finck when he replaced Slash. Even if RHCP replaced John with Joe Satriani or KK Downing, most of the fans would still be throwing insults at the new guitarist.
Josh actually played with RHCP on their last tour. He was a backup guitarist and filled in some of the more complicated arrangements that John couldn’t replicate live by himself. Most of the fans know him already. He also played with John’s group Ataxia and helped with John’s last solo album. He has a better shot with the fans than some others do. So I guess you can’t write this band’s obituary. Not yet.

Happy since it means you can now re-join! your my favourite lead guitarist ever and Flea is my favourite bassist so One Hot Minute was a match made in heaven musically for me…
I’ll be sad if anyone else joins… only you & John have the funk!

Like Amber, I’m hoping for the last Dark Matter to be posted, also, do you/are there posts anywhere of your DM playlists? I’ve downloaded a lot of songs you’ve played over the last couple of years, but you don’t always announce the songs and there some I still want to find.

Why no new show from last wed?
Brittany Murphy died yesterday. It was sad and unexpected. She was too young. So I ended up watching Uptown Girls last night and I noticed Dave was in that movie towards the end. Have a good Christmas.

Hey, Just noticed Rose hill drive are supporting you guys NYE. They are the best and i think that Dan the guitarist is a perfect replacement for John as they have a very similar old school style and if you get to witness this guy I think you’ll agree. I hope all goes well.
