SUNDAY 10

Post image for SUNDAY 10

1. On your cover of Ripple, whose idea was it for you to play a little bit of Bird Song at the end? It is a very cool addition to your version.

Yes. I am happy to hear that someone heard that! That was in fact, my little extra homage to Jerry and the Dead. I always loved how they would weave songs together and I chose to weave The Bird song into Ripple in a similar way. That cover was recorded in England many years ago in one evening. If you haven’t heard it, I have made it available here for a limited time.

2. Do you ever get fed up with people coming on here who can’t spell and think they are funny when they aren’t?

HAHAHA! Um, yeah. I actually don’t mind the shots at humor, but the worst is when I type something obviously sarcastic or outrageous and people reply with a serious comment. Like, they JUST DON’T GET IT. This is more of a problem on Twitter than here. Like yesterday, I wrote something about never having a ‘full moon” again as a result of the bombing and I got tons of replies, “Well, actually… There is more mass etc cause blah blah blah…” I’m like… I KNOW!!!!! I’M KIDDING!!!

3. How good are you at detecting when someone is lying? Do you read someones body language and facial expressions?

No, I just assume that if their lips are moving… They are lying! ;)

4. Hey Dr. Navarro, what was your worst relationship with someone?

That’s a pretty broad question, but I believe that even the bad ones are important because we learn things about ourselves and others. Sometimes a bad relationship is like putting your hand in a fire when you are young. You learn to not do it again.

5. Ever tweeted something then woke up the next day, wished you hadn’t, and deleted it? Care to share it again?

No, not really. Sometimes I’ll go through and clean out the ones that don’t make a whole lot of sense to the public at large when a comment is aimed at a specific person.

6. I was wondering, is it true that Ramon Novarro was a friend of the family? And in respect, took your family name but just changed the A to an O?

That is true but the spelling change was the result of a secretary’s typo at the studio. Evidently she misspelled the name and he was like, “Fuck it! Let’s just leave it like this.”

7. Hey Dave, do you like my tattoo?

Yes, Chloe, I do very much. That drawing was done by Mark Ryden, another great artist that I love who is famous for the big eyed little girls. BTW, you are pretty fuckin’ adorable! :)

8. To keep in line with #DNHT and #DNHT, you should start referring to yourself in the third person whenever you do interviews.

Dave Navarro sees the humor in that, but knows that doing so would be the final nail in the coffin for him. As it is, most reviewers and writers have a problem with Dave Navarro and if he started answering questions in the third person, they all would!

9. What is your opinion on the The Blair Witch Project? Did you see it in the theatre and believe it was real?

I was lucky enough to have been invited to a private screening of Blair Witch before anyone knew anything about it. I was told that it was a documentary screening so yes, I TOTALLY bought it and it scared the daylights out of me. I went into a depression when I found out it wasn’t real. (j/k)

10. Page or Angus, Who’ve you learned more licks from?

PAGE! 100% When I was a young guitarist, I didn’t get into the simplicity of AC/DC as I did later on in life. Those were some of the most influenced years of my learning and I was all about Zeppelin and Hendrix. I was super interested layers and dynamics and emotional response within a song or an album. AC/DC felt too “one trick” for me at the time and years later I learned just how awesome that one trick was.

Thank you for answering my question DN-:) I rented it on a Pay Per View site and was intrigued also by it. At work one day, people informed me it wasn’t real:(

Vincent Denafrio? 10 things to do in denver when your dead??

Christina Wood October 10, 2009 at 8:20 pm

actually i am working on an idea as a heavy and he did actually write and produce with Christina Ricci that movie, and it does have very similar lighting constructs to a project i am working on, and the only human being i want as the male lead is Jakob Luke Dylan, and that is actually truthful, so allow me to work please, i am trying to work my own product placement contracts with very limited truthful delivery, because their is a very high proablity that the studio system will still be very much staunchly against my corp movie contract principles

here is the actual goal for independant film makers, that they CORP or INC every single project to have the contracts desolved into resolution via major studio money, that is my real goal

love you kissy face!

Christina Wood October 10, 2009 at 8:24 pm

please note i am absolutely avoiding LLC or Limited Liablity Corp because the merger means the held contracts are desolved and the money is held to the intial check depostier with out the corp desolve maintaining contracted principles

Corp or Inc only if you are going truthful legit, LLC if you are looking for a loss and a tax write off

Christina Wood October 10, 2009 at 8:40 pm

what i am trying to get us to is “parent corporations” which sub shell subsidary corps, and basically what that means is that every independant film is it’s own product placement contracts and it doesn’t merger, it sub shell’s itself under a partent corp which provides distruibutership and marketing to go beyond the intialized corps product placement contracts, for example minor porno film makers says i can show you 100,000 boxes distributed to meet the first teir of our contract, if i get bought into a parent corp you must meet these liablities about market repersentation, the movie gets bought, and actually what is happening is that a whole corportation is being purchased into a parent corps abilities to produce known and varifiable market results towards the product placement contracts already created and repersented via the production of a completed and boxed film

my goal is to get it so that a film maker any film maker with limited principles is worthy of actualized product placement investment with out the studio systems having to demand review outside of the film and the contracts, so that actually they can make more money, how many films never get seen as worthy of the many even if they are, too many to count, however preplacement of corp status and product placement is an economic edge worthy of truthful presuit

Christina Wood October 10, 2009 at 8:57 pm

now why do i luv girls gone idle wild?

BECAUSE THAT IS A MAILING LIST THAT CAN MEET MY PRODUCT PLACEMENT CONTRACTS

children let us think, i want to be paid correctly, because a day shoot with a dick in you does not pay nearly enough and you want to know exactly why actually, because it costs too much and it doen’t contract itself correctly from the beginning, i happen to actually respect pornography as an art form, and i am watching this and seeing strippers snar their lips at porn stars, and i have been one of those gartered cunts trying to play polite about it, and i thought SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE HERE, she is a STAR who happens to do porn THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE and i will fight for better contracts for all involved.

Christina Wood October 10, 2009 at 9:08 pm

if pornography can get it done, indepedant film as a totality has PROOF. as logic. festivals are nice and all however mailing lists are easier…

and i do have some fucking mother fucking god damned clue about what i am up against and what results i want with in my life time, i am 31 i want this before i am dead.

Spencer Blake October 10, 2009 at 11:32 pm

Very well said Dave, beautiful ten dude.

I especially dug your statement on the Page/Angus front, I feel the same about that one. It took many years for me to get into how astonishing simplicity can be. Also, I have loved J.A.’s version of “Ripple” since I first heard it some years ago. Great work! Thanks for the tune. :)

“…they JUST DON’T GET IT.”

I feel your pain. It takes a unique individual to appreciate my warped sense of humor, as well. ;)

Jen October 11, 2009 at 10:26 am

speaking of having a warped sense of humor…

I was watching the news and listening and laffin’ at the story of the FaceBook pedophile that asked a 13 year old girl for sex…PUNCHLINE…the girl was his OWN daughter he had not seen for 10 years..NOW what are the fuckin’ odds?!!?!?!?!?!?!

I could NOT contain my laughter…my friends were like WTF? The powers that be can be sneaky and I find humor in stupidity!

Still laffin’…

maxine October 12, 2009 at 3:12 am

Well i see you answered one of my questions somewhat sarcastically. I would have preferred you to answer the rasberries one, however. such is life. Now i can’t sing that song no nover no more no nay never no more will i be the wild rover no more.

I really find that facebook story disturbing.

chloé October 12, 2009 at 9:57 am

em October 12, 2009 at 10:24 am

hey dave, thanks for the frank response. i guess it must just be me then..

aymes October 12, 2009 at 12:00 pm

going to have to listen to that ripple cover! when i first started listening to the dead when i was around 13-14ish ripple was one of my favs- acutally all of american beauty and also the accoustic live album reckoning- thru the yrs still my favorite- even though countless bootlegs kinda replaced that in the favorite dead department :) great answers as always!
WSP is kinda the dead of my generation- for me at least- though there will never be another dead/jerrry. one of the things i love doing with my friends at shows is listening for hints of the next song jamming into the one they are finishing and calling it out- who ever gets it right doesn’t have to pay for their next drink :)

Patrycja October 20, 2009 at 11:44 am
