THIS WEEKEND

by Dave Navarro on October 9, 2009

Preparing for the weekend. If you have a question for the Sunday 10, go ahead and ask it here.

Tonight, me and the Camp Freddy boys are playing the Surfrider Foundation show. Our guests include Perry Farrell, Mark McGrath, Deryck Whibley, Evan Seinfeld, Dave Kushner, as well as the rest of the gang, Matt Sorum, Chris Chaney, Billy Morrison and Donovan Leitch. Steve Jones is even threatening to make an appearance. It’s a great cause as we are celebrating Surfrider’s 25 years of devotion to cleaning up the shorelines.

Next up on the to do list, Paranormal Activity! been dying to catch this film since I saw the trailer for it. Even if it’s awful, I’m certain it will prove to be a great way to spend a Saturday evening.

Sunday, Todd and I will be headed to the Latin Film Festival.

A preview of next Wednesday’s Dark Matter: Chantal from the band Morningwood will be joining us in the studio.

On your cover of Ripple, whose idea was it for you to play a little bit of Bird Song at the end? It is a very cool addition to your version.

Tali Adina October 9, 2009 at 10:26 am

If a drink represented your fave songs what would be the type of drink and what would the ingredients?

Nigel Denzel October 9, 2009 at 10:29 am

Hey Dave,

What are some valuable ideas you’ve discovered in the esoteric studies?

Mike from NYC October 9, 2009 at 10:31 am

Dave,
Long time, no speak!!! How the heck are you? I’m going to Vegas next week to check out Carmen’s Cabaret show at the MGM.
Do you have a favorite hotel when you visit Vegas? Do you have a favorite club/bar to party?
Later,
Mike from NYC

Hi Honey,

I was wondering, is it true that Ramon Novarro was a friend of the family? And in respect, took your family name but just changed the A to an O?

If it is true, have you heard any famliy stories about him.

Thanks,
Sassy CC

More a comment than a question, but I think that from now on, to keep in line with #DNHT and #DNHT, you should start referring to yourself in the third person whenever you do interviews. That would keep things interesting.

Hey Dave-

You spoke of having a pill relapse on tour. When you have these, do you have to seek help to kick, do realize the slip and have the will to stop, or can you have a problem with one drug and not another? Never had this problem and curious.

How do you manage to keep yourself so down to earth, do you ever feel that your fans play a role in that?

Astra Wally October 9, 2009 at 11:40 am

Mark October 9, 2009 at 1:07 pm

Any plans to get McGrath, Billy Morrison or any of the Camp Freddy guys on Dark Matter soon? Loving the guests you keep getting on!

Vixen October 9, 2009 at 3:00 pm

Hi DN,
Thank you so much again. I’m hyper whenever a postman walks anywhere near the house (well, a 20 mile radius is all it takes currently).
Have a great gig tonight.
I do have a few mixed questions for you – do you ever get nightmares? How do you switch off and tell your brain that the horror genre is all creativity? I would love to watch but anything more than True Blood scares the shit out of me – subcon mind does not let go for days, can’t watch The Excorcist even in bright light – too many what if / possibility questions!
Scariest film / most disturbing film you’ve watched? Do you actually get scared?
Ok thanks, I’m done.
Happy weekend.
Love,
Vixen. x.x.x

Is there anyone u wish u didn’t record with? (no names needed)

Paul Breuker October 9, 2009 at 3:31 pm

Have you ever woken up from the type of dream people have when they have a bad fever and then wake up (half a sleep) having the perfect piece of song that somehow was the soundtrack to it all?

Did you record it?

Linda from San Diego October 9, 2009 at 3:33 pm

I don’t know if you have ever watched the new TV show Lie to Me. Dr. Paul Ekman is a consultant. The show focuses on his F.A.C.E. Training technique which is based on reading micro-expressions.

Question: How good are you at detecting when someone is lying? Do you read someones body language and facial expressions?

Wow, that TWITPIC is you?!

tori October 9, 2009 at 4:50 pm

Question: When you play, do you feel like a deft technician, or a channeler? In other words, do you feel like the music comes from you, or through you?
May I impose another question?
Of course, I don’t know you, but it seems to me that you are a light spirit -curious, and open; What is all the darkness around you? I’ve seen true cynics and nihilists and I doubt you share those views. Do you really feel all that blackness, -or do you put it on because it’s the simplest thing? (I only wear black because it hurts my head to have to think of what to wear -for instance.)
I am sincerely interested in your answers -if you would be so kind to consider the questions. Aloha -Tori

spunkmuffin October 9, 2009 at 8:49 pm

sydnei October 10, 2009 at 1:07 am

Howzit …
Jesus, how do you keep your youthful lustre? I nearly fell off my chair when I realised you’re a kiddie of the 60s! I recently turned 30 and found myself doing a ‘Brian Kenny’; save the tombstone-cake.
Kudos to you mate!… how? how? how?

do you ever feel guilty for being rich and successful, when there are people who don’t seem to deserve it who don’t seem to have anything? Do you ever feel like you do not deserve it This is not a criticism, i feel guilty for seeming to have more than others, even tho i don’t actually have that much. for e.g this woman who was in the shop the other day with no teeth trying to control two badly behaved kids who were demanding chocolate for breakfast, begging the shopkeeper for a light for her cigarette.

Why do porn stars get big breast implants? Why are their breasts so enormous? When you are having sex with someone with dd breasts do you ever feel they get in the way at all? Do you prefer having sex with somone with massive breasts? Do breast implants ever get in the way of breast feeding? Not just yours, babies as well.

Do you think California is one of the most beautiful places in the world and do you feel lucky to live there? I’ve been all over, and i think California is one of the most beeaultful places i visited (Three times now.)

do you ever get fed up with people coming on here who can’t spell and think they are funny when they aren’t?

do you prefer rasberries or strawberries?

Will you ever answer one of my questions…i know the answer..no never!!! no never!!!

maxine October 10, 2009 at 2:33 am

chorus: And it’s no, nay, never,
No nay never no more,

maxine October 10, 2009 at 2:55 am

on the subject of documentaries, i contacted Nick Brromfield about some weird shit that recently happened to me, and actually affected my psyche deeply related to well, anyway he is interested and wants more info! Isn’t that amazing!
It may not be the real Nick Broomfield as i did it thru myspace! May contact Michael Moore. He is alway sympathetic to the underdog.

DannifromND October 10, 2009 at 11:21 am

Since comparisions have been made to The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, what is your opinion on the The Blair Witch Project? Did you see it in the theatre and believe it was real? Enjoy your movie! Thank you for taking the time for your fans!

Boyd Griffin October 10, 2009 at 11:34 am
